Basic education is based on the curriculum. It tells how teaching is arranged, what is studied and how. Learning goals and contents in different subjects are specified in the school curriculum.

The curriculum has four levels:

  1. The National Core Curriculum decreed by the National Board of Education (in Finnish)
  2. The regional curriculum of Southern Ostrobothnia (in Finnish www.seinajoki.fi/ops)
  3. The municipal curriculum of Seinäjoki (in Finnish www.seinajoki.fi/ops)
  4. The school-specific curriculum (found on each school’s website in Finnish)
