Urban planning and land use planning
Urban planning involves the planning of a city’s land use, various functions, and the placement of buildings. On a more detailed level, it entails the planning of areas, blocks, plots, the road network, and green infrastructure. It includes specifying the use of plots, the placement of buildings, building rights, and the number of floors.
The planning of land use is regulated by the Land Use and Building Act, the Land Use and Building Decree, and national land use guidelines. There are three levels of planning: the regional land use plan, the local master plan, the local detailed plan, and the detailed shore plan. The city is in charge of developing the local master plans and local detailed plans, and the Regional Council of South Ostrobothnia is in charge of developing the regional land use plan.
The valid local master plans and local detailed plans are available for viewing at the map service of Seinäjoki City.
