Kulttuurimatka
Kulttuurimatka (Cultural Journey) offers pupils in grades 0–9 of basic education equal and high-quality cultural, arts, and cultural heritage education. The aim of the program is to bring culture into everyday school life and offer all pupils equal opportunities to experience culture.
Diverse cultural activities for schools
The content of Kulttuurimatka is planned in collaboration with experts in the fields of education and culture and varies from year to year. The program is free of charge for schools. Information about the content is provided on the Kulttuurimatka website and in separate newsletters sent to schools. Schools are also encouraged to engage in independent cultural activities by providing information about cultural offerings in the city and materials to support teaching.
Kulttuurimatka offers students:
- Visits to cultural institutions and sites
- Workshops and performances in various art forms
- Information about cultural offerings in the area
- Materials to support the arts experience in classroom work
- Equal opportunities to participate in art and culture
Cultural education as part of teaching
The activities of Kulttuurimatka are based on a cultural education plan, which is a local plan implementing the Seinäjoki basic education curriculum.
The objectives of Kulttuurimatka
- To make children and young people active consumers of culture and to inspire them to engage in cultural activities on their own initiative
- To support the development of children’s and young people’s cultural identity
- To promote understanding of cultural diversity
