Clips

What do you do? How many people work here?
Clips Hair Salon-Store is a trendy and modern family hair salon located in Seinäjoki’s Ideapark. We offer all hair salon services and our shop carries pretty much all the most popular haircare and styling products. We serve everyone from babies to grandparents with extended opening hours.
There are currently 8 Clips locations and they are in 7 different towns. Our Seinäjoki salon is the newest and northernmost, opened in 2019. In this entrepreneur-run salon, in addition to the owner, four full-time and a couple of part-time employees work.
What kinds of roles/tasks do you have?
All of us are trained barbers and hairdressers, and each of our employees carries out all types of hairdressing work.
We also have opportunities to advance to supervisory positions. Our salon has two shift leaders assisting the owner, whose tasks are to ensure that shifts run smoothly for both employees and customers. Their duties include sales and personnel management as well as administrative tasks.
We regularly have hairdressing students working here as trainees. We are happy to give students the opportunity to learn and see what working in the hair industry is like and thereby the chance to get employed in the field immediately after graduation or sometimes even while still studying.
How many new professionals do you hire annually/in the coming years?
We are not talking about very large staff numbers. This year’s goal is to get at least two, preferably even three new full-time barbers/hairdressers, and in the future gradually increase the number as suitable people are found.
Why should one come to work for you / What are your strengths as an employer?
You should come work with us because we have a great, cheerful and genuinely supportive team every day. Our team enjoys working and wants to do their best on every shift. We take care of our employees and have built team spirit by upholding good practices. You’re never alone here; help, support and company from coworkers and the owner are always available.
We have many customers, so you won’t be “twiddling your thumbs” during shifts, and in addition we regularly run promotions at shopping center events, have fun extras for our customers and sales competitions for employees, so work doesn’t get boring.
We also offer part-time work, where shifts can be arranged according to each person’s situation.
Flexibility, openness, positivity and fairness describe our work community well. This is also shown by the fact that we regularly do various activities together in our free time.
We also have motivating pay and a bonus system in addition to salary, which rewards well-done work. Our hairdressers earn on average 30% more than the industry average. Our guaranteed salary is better than the standard salary table for this area, which always secures a certain monthly income. Plus the accompanying commission makes it possible to earn significantly more (we pay commission on both service and product sales), not to mention evening, Saturday and Sunday allowances.
Where do you see yourselves as an employer in five years?
I would like to see us become one of Seinäjoki’s best-known employers in the hair industry, offering paid jobs to hairdressers of all ages and experience levels (this field is more focused on chair rental and entrepreneurship). And we would be a salon where it is easy for students to come for internships and to learn about the work in the field.
What employment benefit do you have that your employees particularly value?
We have motivating pay for employees, which indeed allows earning significantly better than the industry average.
We train our employees regularly during work hours. At least four times a year an instructor comes to our salon and the training content is planned according to employees’ wishes. In addition, we have regular product trainings throughout the year and whenever someone feels the need.
We also have regular sales competitions, from which employees have the chance to win salon products, tools, gift cards, various product and goods prizes, even restaurant dinners charged to our suppliers.
Every employee has the right to take care of their own hair and may have their own hair done once a month, and products can be purchased to take home at a 30% discount. Personal tools (scissors, clippers, hairdryer) can also be purchased through us at a discount if needed; we provide everything else required for hairdresser work.

Seinäjoki is the capital of space, where there is room for all good things. Continue the sentence: We have room for…
… cheerful, hardworking, and work-loving barbers and hairdressers who want a good and long-term workplace. We have room for hairdressers who want to be part of a great team and develop in their work, encourage and also develop their coworkers’ skills, and add their own positive contribution to our workdays.
