Library

The library is free and open to everyone. You can borrow books, games, films and music. You can spend time at the library and participate in events. Computers and other equipment are available for use.

You can print, copy and scan documents. You can also reserve spaces for studying or hobbies, such as a music room or a craft room. Guidance is available on a wide range of topics, including the use of digital devices.

In addition to the Main Library, services are provided at the local libraries in Nurmo, Peräseinäjoki, Ylistaro and Kyrkkäri, as well as in two mobile libraries.

Basic art education

Basic education in the arts is curriculum‑based, goal‑oriented education for children and young people, progressing from one level to the next. At Seinäjoki Adult Education Centre, you can study the general syllabus of basic education in the arts in visual arts, popular music and theatre arts.

Seinäjoki museums

Seinäjoki Museums offer an excellent way to get to know your new home region. Museums are places for sharing knowledge and experiences. You can explore permanent and temporary exhibitions at your own pace or participate in guided tours on various themes. You are also welcome to attend the many events organised by the museums, which are connected to the history of the region. Events provide opportunities for activities and experiences in a relaxed atmosphere.

We offer museum experiences at three interesting locations. The South Ostrobothnia Museum in Törnävä presents the history of Seinäjoki and the South Ostrobothnia region, the Östermyra ironworks estate, and both urban and rural life. The Civil Guard and Lotta Svärd Museum, located in the city centre, focuses on voluntary national defence in South Ostrobothnia. The Hospital Museum in Törnävä presents the history of healthcare in the region. Temporary exhibitions vary in content and may relate to museum themes or present current and general topics.

Louhimo

The Children’s Culture Centre Louhimo is a cultural centre operated by the City of Seinäjoki that produces free, high‑quality art and cultural content for children and young people. Louhimo mainly operates in schools and daycare centres.

We organise, for example, the free hobby activity programme Harkku and the family event Pikkuprovinssi. Louhimo also operates a lending service for hobby equipment, where you can borrow musical instruments and circus equipment free of charge.

Kalevan Navetta arts and culture centre

Kalevan Navetta is an art and cultural centre featuring art exhibitions, a handicraft shop, a restaurant, an art lending service and meeting facilities. A wide range of handicraft courses and events are organised at Kalevan Navetta.

Seinäjoki Art Hall

Seinäjoki Art Hall is located in the Kalevan Navetta arts and culture centre.

The Art Hall hosts temporary art exhibitions, events and art workshops for people of all ages.

Rytmikorjaamo

Rytmikorjaamo is a centre for creative activity in Seinäjoki. It is a hub for businesses, a conference and event venue, and one of the largest rock clubs in Finland.

Varikko Gallery

Varikko Gallery includes artist studios, temporary art exhibitions and Varikkosoppi, a small shop where you can buy artworks, postcards and other items created by artists working at Varikko.

Music institute

Etelä-Pohjanmaan Musiikkiopisto offers structured and progressive music education, primarily for children and young people. Students have the opportunity to study music in a long‑term, goal‑oriented way based on their interests.

The Ilmiö culture magazine provides information on current theatre performances, museums, music, literature and visual arts in Seinäjoki.
