What do you do? How many people do you have working for you?
Luovi Vocational College is Finland’s largest vocational special education institution. We have students who require demanding special support. We provide vocational qualification training as well as preparatory training. About 900 people work for us across Luovi-Finland and we operate in about 30 locations. Most of our staff are instructors or vocational special teachers working with students. In addition, we employ, among others, study counselors, work-life coordinators, guidance counselors, heads of education, and support services staff in various roles. We are a group of professionals with diverse expertise!
What types of roles/tasks do you have?
Most of our staff, i.e. just over half, are instructors or personal instructors. Just over one-fifth of the staff are vocational special education teachers. Other staff groups include, for example, supervisors, student services, and administrative and support services.
How many new professionals do you hire annually/in the coming years?
In Seinäjoki, you can study to become a property maintenance worker, a cook, a service logistics worker and a facilities cleaner. In addition, we provide preparatory training for qualifications (TUVA) and training preparing for work and independent living (TELMA). For these roles in Seinäjoki, we have recruited in recent years, among others, vocational special teachers and group instructors, personal instructors, a study counselor, and a work-life coordinator. Each year we have several dozen recruitments open across Luovi-Finland.

In addition to training, we have opportunities to develop skills, for example through work placements, international activities, or by taking on internal development opportunities. We take care of the orientation of our new employees comprehensively, and after the orientation ends, the support of the work community and supervisors continues in everyday life. We organize planning and recreational days that support community for our staff. On anniversaries we remember our staff, and we do not forget to reward successes.
