Seinäjoki’s enterprising and active atmosphere inspires remote workers
Seinäjoki and its surrounding area give Heli Tulisalo a boost in her demanding specialist role.
-It’s no empty phrase when I say that this city and the surrounding region inspire me in my work. Seinäjoki truly radiates an entrepreneurial spirit, a can-do attitude, and tenacity. I feel that this local environment is nothing but beneficial for my work.
Heli, who works as a Sales Director at the earnings-related pension company Elo, leads the company’s growth unit. Together with her team, she helps growing companies develop and succeed. Both her own team and many of her corporate clients are based in the Helsinki metropolitan area.
-The headquarters is in Espoo, so I do travel south quite often. It isn’t a burden, though; the train connections from Seinäjoki to Helsinki are excellent. A new morning train service was just introduced, too. I’m able to use the travel time to get work done. It’s also wonderful to have an employer that accommodates this way of working.
Not all business trips take her south; she has corporate clients all over Finland. When Heli is in Seinäjoki, she works from home. Heli holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree and an international MBA. She has studied and worked in places such as Vaasa, Turku, and Poland. She returned to the area several years ago.
-When I originally left Seinäjoki, I swore I’d never come back. Over the years, however, the idea of returning began to appeal to me. The peaceful living environment and family-oriented values drew me back here.
Although Heli once thought she would never return, she has always been proud of her South Ostrobothnian roots during the years she spent living elsewhere.
-I’ve always been happy to tell people I’m from South Ostrobothnia. The values I gained here have always stood me in good stead.
In her free time, Heli enjoys jogging in the natural surroundings of Seinäjoki.
-Seinäjoki has everything you could want. There is plenty of nature and opportunities for physical activity, plus all the city services are right here and easily accessible. I’ve experienced big-city congestion, and it’s not something I miss.
