The crown jewel of Kainasto is the summer theatre
Kainasto’s youth association activities have endured for a century, and the hobby of performing plays has been present throughout.
The youth association’s area forms a unified center of activity where it is easy to feel at home. The traditional hobby of performing plays also colors the everyday life of the villagers.
– Around the summer theatre activities, three different theatre circles of the adult education centre operate, and for many years there has been the Luova lava children’s theatre camp, says Kainasto Youth Association chairman Asko Istolahti.

The creations of the ceramics course participants are fired in the youth association’s ceramic kiln. The village centre’s playground is a popular activity spot for people of many ages. The ice cream kiosk, which operates on the youth association’s yard, is also right by the main road.
– We are really pleased with that. Almost 10,000 vehicles pass by per day.
You just have to have a certain kind of courage
At Kainasto Youth Association things happen, and above all, they are made to happen.
– We want to maintain the vitality of the local environment so that everyone would be well, and so that we could be proud of our village.
A lot has been achieved through various projects. The village centre has been developed through rural village development projects.
– You just have to have a certain kind of courage to set out and do something.
Asko considers the village’s strengths to be its excellent location and its rural environment.
– In terms of commuting and other matters, we are centrally located in many directions. If necessary, you can drive from Kainasto to Seinäjoki’s centre in about fifteen minutes.
For Asko, the village association and living in the village mean the surrounding terrain, forests and nature, as well as the closeness of friends and family.
– Being close to a safety net is important. In addition, through the association’s activities you gain acquaintances, friends and everyday activities.
There is always room for new residents and active members.
– In our activities there are many people who have moved here from elsewhere and have boldly joined village life. They have valuable ideas and perspectives.

Asko’s tips for the village of Kainasto:
- There are really good plays at the Jyrkkä summer theatre!
- The three ski jumping hills are worth trying out.
- The village centre has archery and disc golf courses.
