According to a study by the Homeowners’ Association, Seinäjoki has the cheapest housing costs in Finland. The total of electricity, water and waste charges and property tax in Seinäjoki is 4,554 euros, while the average charge in municipalities was 5,836 euros per year. The Homeowners’ Association’s comparison included municipal and regionally determined charges in one hundred municipalities, where 84 percent of Finns live.

Detached houses are the most common form of housing in Seinäjoki, although the share of apartment building living has increased significantly in recent years. A special feature of Seinäjoki is the unusually large share of row houses.

Owner-occupied housing is common, but the popularity of renting is clearly increasing. Rent levels in Seinäjoki are also relatively affordable.
