Boardwalks in a bog landscape.
Enjoy the beautiful nature of Honkakylä. From the fitness trail you can follow the nature path and boardwalks all the way to Seinäjoki.

The chair of the Honkakylä village association, Päivi Mäki-Kihniä, and activists Henna Paananen, Kari Pihlaja, as well as Väinö Hautaluoma, appreciate opportunities for leisure time, good transport connections and spacious housing.

– There’s room to live and breathe here. The plots are large and the rural setting is peaceful. Honkakylä has everything a person needs, Päivi, Henna and Kari describe.

For Väinö, who recently moved to the village, the active village association, the opportunities to enjoy nature, the affordable gym and the proximity of early childhood education and the school made an impression.

– Mountain biking and hiking are important hobbies for me. There are really good and varied trail networks here. From my own yard it’s easy to go into motorsports. I also appreciate the village school spirit.

The village hosts, among other things, scouting activities, adult education centre courses and children’s club activities. Hobbies can be found close by.

– The beautiful river, forest and bog landscapes invite you to spend time outdoors. The early childhood centre’s yard has a great playground and a skating rink. Children can go fishing in the summers and the village association’s canoe can be reserved for paddling on the river, Henna says.

It’s wonderful to live in a village with enthusiastic and friendly people

Community spirit and caring for others show themselves in small everyday acts.

– During the construction of our house many people came to look and help. Strangely, our plot was always cleared in winter, even though I hadn’t hired anyone, Väinö chuckles.

Taking part in the village association’s activities builds emotional capital, as you get to do enjoyable things together for the good of your community.

– By participating you can directly influence the village’s livability. It’s wonderful to live in a village with enthusiastic and friendly people, everyone remarks.
