In Hyllykallio you’re close to nature – Tanelinlampi connects the residential areas and residents

With its park-like features, Hyllykallio enables Anssi Orrenmaa to live a smooth, nature-based life. Services and the city center are close by, and the recreational opportunities offered by nature are part of everyday life.
– I have used the gravel track a lot for running and skiing, and Tanelinlampi above all for winter swimming, says Anssi, chairman of the Hyllykallio association.
Residents’ wishes for a sense of community have prompted the Hyllykallio association to become active again after a short lull.
– I have a meaningful task when I get to work with people to build Hyllykallio’s community spirit. People like to do things together in their own neighborhood.
The heart of Hyllykallio is Tanelinlampi
The population of Hyllykallio is growing, so what could be better than creating memories and meaning around one’s local area for future generations?
The association’s emphasis on local recreation and nature has been visible from the start. The heart of Hyllykallio is Tanelinlampi, which connects different housing areas and residents of all ages.
– New events, in addition to the Elokarnevaalit and the Hyllykallio rounds, are being planned once activities get properly underway.
According to Anssi, there is a lot of potential in the future of the district and the Hyllykallio association. The resident population is renewing and the area is commercially active, yet it retains its most important asset—proximity to nature.
– It’s wonderful to be so close and to become attached to the nearby nature. It’s easy to stay here.

Anssi’s tips for Hyllykallio:
- People come from neighboring villages to do ice-swimming and use the avant-sauna at Tanelinlampi, and to ski on the gravel track.
- In summer, development around Tanelinlampi will continue by installing freely available padel courts.
- It’s worth coming to marvel at the expansion of the region’s largest residential area into new parts.
