A Sporty Erasmus in Seinäjoki: Moving, Learning and Living

Hi! I’m Candela Saz, I’m 19 years old and I am from Alcañiz, Spain. I’m doing my Erasmus internship in the field of sports in Seinäjoki, Finland. I’ve been here during April and May, and even though time has flown by, I’ve had so many great experiences!

What impressed me the most is how connected the city is through sports. There are facilities everywhere: both public and private gyms, sports halls, football fields, and plenty of outdoor spaces to stay active.

The best part is that you’re constantly surrounded by nature. In May, the forests are already green, and it’s very common to go for a walk, ride a bike, or simply relax in one of the city’s many parks.

Beyond sports, some of my favorite moments have been the quiet coffee breaks with my colleagues, trying traditional Finnish pastries, and discovering how kind the people are. They may seem a bit shy at first, but once you connect, they’re incredibly warm and friendly.

Seinäjoki may be a small city, but it’s truly welcoming. If you enjoy staying active, learning new things, and living different experiences, this place is a hidden gem—perfect for your Erasmus adventure.
