What makes Seinäjoki special? What kind of a city would you like to live, work and spend your free time in? What is future Seinäjoki like?
Views and opinions on these issues and more are collected during the autumn from residents, entrepreneurs and members of associations, as well as city staff and elected officials. The answers will form the basis for composing a new urban strategy for Seinäjoki. The urban strategy is the most important plan guiding the governing and operations of the City of Seinäjoki, and jointly agreed goals are recorded in the strategy.
- The urban strategy is composed out of a will to build an even better Seinäjoki. The strategy supports everyday decision-making and steers us towards success. A wonderful city contains diverse opinions, and participation helps us gather a common vision representing all of us, summarise it into a strategy and commit to it. This is how we will succeed, says Jaakko Kiiskilä, Mayor of Seinäjoki.
The survey can be filled out on the city website at seinajoki.fi/strategy. The web-based survey is a forum for co-development, open to all. The respondents have the opportunity to see and evaluate other respondents’ thoughts on the development of Seinäjoki. The survey is open in Finnish and in English from 27 September to 17 October 2021. You can also fill out a paper form, available at the info service point at Seinäjoki Town Hall.
The results of the online survey serve as a basis for the involvement of elected officials and city staff during November and December. In January, the urban strategy will proceed to the City Council. The City Council will approve the strategy in February 2022.
