The Child Welfare Unit handles matters related to child welfare.

Open care supports families in various difficult life situations. Some examples of our measures include home-based and family-oriented counselling and support, financial support for children’s recreational activities, and family-oriented support in a family rehabilitation unit. An open care placement is conducted in cooperation between the family and the authorities. It can be rehabilitative or evaluative in nature, and the child can be placed in a foster family or in a child welfare centre.

An emergency placement may be required in situations where a child is in immediate danger and their safety at home cannot be guaranteed.

Our work is based on a collaborative approach with the child’s parents and close relations, and our aim is to make a comprehensive and positive change in the entire family.
