Most magnificent spaces
The most magnificent open plain landscapes, i.e. vast open spaces, can be seen from Jouppilanvuori, Lakeuden Risti, Murron Oikoos (Vaasantie), and the Alajoki area opening on the border between Ilmajoki and Seinäjoki.
Jouppilanvuori
The popular fitness stairs (experience stairs) in the Joupiska recreational area are a good place to start the walk toward the summit. The stairs are located on the edge of the Joupiska ski resort (on the side facing the Kultavuori residential area) and can be reached, for example, from the ski resort’s parking area and from the fitness trail.
Two sets of stairs rise from the base of the slope and then merge into one up to the top. The wooden stairs, about two meters wide, comprise a total of 278 steps when taking the “straightest” route to the summit. The stairs also offer a fine view of the city center.
Lakeuden Risti Church
The tower of Lakeuden Risti offers views across the open land. You can reach the bell tower by elevator, or you can also do a stair workout to get there. The effort is rewarded, as magnificent views open up from the observation deck 276 steps away. The tower is generally open in summer, and in spring and autumn by appointment.
