Staff Building of the Civil Guard (1924-1925)

This group of buildings was designed by Aalto for the District Staff of Voluntary Militaria and constructed during 1924-1926. It is the only work by the young Aalto that has remained unaltered except for the paintwork, which was also restored to the original by Architect Touko Saari during 1982-1988. The interior still has in places the original paintwork dating back to 1925. During the summer of 1988 the original pergola and the columnade in the semicircle was reconstructed on the west side of the inner yard.
