Sports Sites

The upkeep of the sports sites in the City is mainly the responsibility of the Sports Department. In the vicinity of residential areas, there are neighbourhood sport sites as well as fitness and nature tracks.

The most important track is the accessible fitness route of Jouppilanvuori, where the disabled have been taken into account by building along the route rest sites, such as toilets for the disabled, a quay, hut and a shelter. Moreover, an accessible game area, implemented in cooperation with Eptek, will be inaugurated in autumn 2009.

The most important sports sites in the City are the Swimming and Sports Hall, Nurmo Hall, Ritola Hall, Kirmaushalli, as well as the baseball stadiums in Nurmo, Seinäjoki, Peräseinäjoki and the sports parks in Seinäjoki and Ylistaro. In addition, one of the most important sports areas is the Ice Sports Centre, featuring an indoor ice rink, artificial skating rink, open artificial skating rink and a new, 3rd generation artificial grass field.

Furthermore, the services in the area are supplemented by Wallsport areena, erected in 2008, where you can find, among others, an artificial grass field, gym and a track, as well as Seinäjoki Indoor Ice Rink, built in 2004.
