Product Safety
The aim of product safety is to prevent hazards caused by consumer goods and services. A product or service must not cause a danger to the consumer’s health or property.
In product safety supervision, the Consumer Agency is in charge of the national-level supervision of consumer goods and counselling.
At the local level, the focal areas in the health inspector’s work with consumer services include the downhill skiing centre, programme service companies, playgrounds, public events, gyms, riding stables, skate sites, swimming hall, beaches, and winter swimming places.
If a merchandise or service causes a hazard, the entrepreneur is liable to spontaneously inform the authorities of it. The announcement can be done in writing, using the Consumer Agency’s own form.
The web pages of the Consumer Agency feature a model of a safety document and an accident log.
