Housing Health
The owner of the building must take care of the upkeep of the building in order that the flat does not cause any health hazard to its users. If the inhabitant suspects there is a health hazard present, the inhabitant must contact in the first place the owner of the flat or the manager of the housing association. The owner of the flat is liable to remove the defects in the flat that adversely affect housing health. In case the owner of the flat has not, despite the inhabitant’s requests, taken the necessary measures to remove the defect, the inhabitant can contact a health inspector. Also the owner of the flat can contact a health inspector.
The health inspector makes an inspection when the condition of the flat is suspected to cause a health hazard to its users. No inspections are made in relation to change or sale of houses.
Housing health information can be obtained from the Housing Health Association and Pulmonary Association Heli.
