Services for Elderly

The aim of the activities is to contribute to supporting and promoting the welfare of ageing residents of Seinäjoki and their independent coping at their own homes. Housing services and long-term institutional care is provided for those not able to cope in home care. In addition to the municipal services, there are home care services and housing services produced by associations, organisations and private people.

The key principles include client-orientation, security, prevention, individuality, a rehabilitating approach, continuity, cooperation and the continuous assessment of the activities.

The services for ageing people include the arrangement of housing services and institutional care as well as of home care and support services.

Home care service

Home care service comprises the open care services of social and health care, i.e. home care service and home nursing. The most important goal of home care service is to secure the coping of aged, disabled and chronically ill people at home in situations in which reduced functional ability hampers the execution of tasks and functions belonging to everyday life. Home care service is available 24 hours a day. We cooperate with the client’s family, and other service providers on the client’s terms.

Short and long-term institutional care

The Simunanranta, Myllyranta, Koivukaari, Kuusenlahti and Västinkartano service centres provide short and long-term care for aged people who cannot cope at home with the help home nursing and support services, but who are not in need of hospital care. Patients with memory disorders have their own housing unit.
There is long-term institutional care available also at Seinäjoki health centre.
