The purpose of the Animal Welfare Act is to protect animals from distress, pain, and suffering in the best possible way. The Act also seeks to promote the wellbeing and fair treatment of animals.
The veterinary practicians and the supervising veterinarian for environmental healthcare in the Seinäjoki area handle issues of animal welfare. Inspections concerning animal welfare can be conducted if there is reason to suspect that the Animal Welfare Act has been violated. Anyone can report such violations. Veterinarians conduct the inspection after receiving a report of a violation of the Animal Welfare Act.

If there is a known case of animal mistreatment, you can contact the public veterinarian or the environmental healthcare office,
