Government offices (1966–1968)

City Hall and Government offices are under renovation until the end of 2018.

Government offices Aalto's original intention was to complete and finalise the town's new administrative centre with a three-storey office building with white plastering. His idea was to design an ending to a group of buildings, an end to the axle that would start from the church and go through the Civic Square; "a peaceful background building," as Aalto is known to have expressed it.

Architecturally, the buildings most significant part is the court chamber. The usage has changed over the years and the chamber is presently used as a meeting room. The tax office and police station have also operated in the office building. The building's ownership was transferred to the city in 2003, and today it is mainly used by city offices.
