Early childhood special education services

Early childhood special education:
- supports the child's comprehensive development and its strengths
- prevents the forming of the child's needs for support
- works in a family-oriented way with the child's parents
- engages in multidisciplinary cooperation
- draws up an individual action plan to support the child in cooperation with the parents, experts and the personnel of early childhood education

Early childhood education employs five consulting special education teachers (KELTO) and three resource special education teachers (RELTO). Children who need special support are given rehabiliting activities either in an ordinary unit of early childhood education with supporting functions or in one of the four integrated day care centre small groups with a day care centre special education teacher (ELTO) working in them.
